It rained all night long, with drizzle persisting through the morning. We spotted a large male grizzly in the creek during breakfast. The anchor was aweigh at 11:30 and we headed back down Smith Inlet to Ahclakerho Channel. Entering the narrows at 13:35, we caught the last of the flood tide through a couple of tight turns and then into the channel proper, which is beautiful and calm. It rained off and on through the whole trip, with the wind on the nose the whole way at up to 22 kn, so we motored all day. As soon as we turned out of Smith Inlet into Ahclakerho Channel, the wind dropped to 5 kn and the sea was flat calm; we even picked up 0.5 kn of following current. As we approached the narrows, the current picked up until, at the second narrows, we had 4.5 kn of following current, along with lots of turbulence (small overfalls, whirlpools and up-wellings). We turned left as soon as we got through the narrows and anchored east of the first island, again all alone.
