We slept in till 09:00, worn out by the exertions of the previous couple of weeks. After a slow morning and a bit of shopping at the local shops, we fueled up after lunch and sailed over to Plumper Cove Marine Park, a grand total of 1.6 N-m from Gibsons. There, we picked up a mooring ball and settled in for the evening. The Admiral and I went for a long walk in the park before John joined us aboard for Captain’s hour and dinner. After dinner, John rowed over to an adjacent boat to loan them his bosun’s chair so they could retrieve their portable anchoring light, which had got stuck half-way up the mast. Afterward, I unlimbered my guitar and John accompanied me for a few songs with his harmonicas.

49-24.195’N, 123-28.427’W; Log = 1.6, Sum (2018) = 135.9 N-m

Happy anniversary USA!! Hope we can make it through another 242 years. Anyway, we slept in till 09:00 again, then slowly got ourselves moving. It was a beautiful day in paradise, so we decided to stay put for a day and do some boat chores. We have a leak in the forward head that I am not looking forward to tackling. I finally worked out that the water is backing up from the through-hull that let’s raw water in for the toilet and the (recently installed) raw-water wash down pump; this only seems to occur when the boat is healed over to starboard (where the through hull is) or when there is a quartering sea rising up on that side. Then the water is leaking through the pipe somewhere (still have not found that spot) and accumulating on the shower floor. Keeping the through-hull valve closed stops the water getting in in the first place, although I have yet to figure out where the water gets out of the pipe and on to the floor. Later in the afternoon, I went for the first swim of the year, in 65 deg F water. Needless to say, it was a very brief, although refreshing, dip. The Admiral would not be convinced of the efficacy of such a swim.
