Slept like a baby last night; for the first time in several days, I was not worried about how I was going to tackle the serious maintenance challenge of the day. After breakfast, the Admiral did another load of laundry and made another run to the grocery store, while I filled a propane bottle, bought a bunch of charts for the upcoming expedition to the north and top up essential liquids at BC Liquor. I also finally got around to washing down the deck, which was in dire need. About the time the Admiral returned from shopping, the wharfinger came round and asked if we would not mind leaving (we were already past check-out time of noon) as they had a boat coming into our slot on the dock. So, we got underway. We made a quick stop at the fuel dock to top up the diesel tank, then headed over to Sointula, on Malcolm Island. It is only 3.5 miles, and we sailed about half the way. We were tied up at the Sointula Town Dock by 14:00. We just chilled and enjoyed doing much of nothing and watching all the fishermen gather for tomorrow’s just-scheduled 24-hour opening of the sockeye fishery tomorrow afternoon. Happy hour and dinner aboard. After dinner, we were going to ride the town dock's courtesy bikes over to Bere Point on the east side of the island to watch Mars rise, but a fog blew and obscured everything, so we just went to bed.
