We slept like logs last night and were a bit slow getting up. After breakfast, we loafed around for a bit, I filled the forward water tank back up, before we finally decided to head up toward Elger Bay, which is a nominal anchorage on the west side of Camano Island a few miles north of Langley. While I was holding the hose in the water tank fill, a harbor seal popped up to the surface within about 3 feet of me, surprising me so much, I nearly dropped the hose. He looked at me for a few seconds, then submerged and went on his merry way. On the way to Elger Bay, we heard the marine forecast, which forecasts winds of NW 25 - 35 tonight in our area, so we decided to move on up to Oak Harbor, which is, hopefully, a bit more protected. We anchored at the west end of Oak Harbor at 15:50. After we were hooked, I spent a few minutes installing my new cam-cleat block on the dinghy. I also hoisted the anchor-riding sail for the first time since 2019 (I think); fortunately, I had earlier prepared a written procedure to remind me how to set it up. Captain’s Hour and dinner aboard.
