After a leisurely breakfast, we got the anchor up about 10:00 and motored over to Poulsbo, where we anchored in Liberty Bay at 11:20. Immediately we were hooked, we rowed into the dinghy dock and walked up to Safeway for a major grocery shop. As we filled 6 bags, we got a taxi back to the marina. After the groceries were stowed, we rowed back to town to hit the marine hardware store and find some WiFi. Successful on both counts, we rowed back to the boat and arrived in good time for Captain’s hour.  Dinner aboard.

Happy Bastille Day. Vive la France!! We slept very well again; it was quite cool overnight and overcast when we awoke. We did not have any specific plan, so we just sort of lazed around to see if something would present itself. I did contact Port Orchard Marina to see about booking a couple of nights there, starting tomorrow, but so far, no response. The batteries were down to 72% SOC, so we fired up the generator while we were waiting to decide what to do. After lunch, we decided to just stay here for another night, so we rowed into town and went to the marine hardware store to get one more thru-hull fitting for my spotlight project. Then, we went to the regular hardware store to buy a couple of hole saws (all mine are too big, and I need a 7/8’ and 1” hole saw to finish my project. We got back to the boat, via the local bus service, which just happened to stop as we were passing one of the bus stops on the way back to town; so, we had a bit of a tour around Poulsbo for a couple of bucks. Back on the boat, after first thinking we would wait until tomorrow to start more cable pulling, we went ahead and started anyway, just to get the cable pulled up into the forepeak under our bunk. Once we had that done, which only took a few minutes, I decided to go ahead with penetrating the forward bulkhead into the anchor locker. I spent more time thinking about it than the work actually took and, quick as “Bob’s your uncle”, we had the whole thing done inside the boat; I still have to drill one more hole to get the cable from the anchor locker up to the bow pulpit, but that will be something for tomorrow. Should have the whole thing done by noon tomorrow (famous last words?); we will be ready for some serious “German Spotlight” in Roscoe Inlet then, by golly.. And then, I’m not taking on any more capital improvement projects, ever again; nothing but routine maintenance and chillin’ from now on. Dinner aboard again. And a beautiful, warm evening, with a view (admittedly a bit hazy) of Mount Rainier to the SE.
