The dawn was overcast and cool, with a very light northerly breeze. We had another leisurely breakfast and watched the large male seal and an otter drying out on the finger piers adjacent. Also, the “Lady Washington”, a two-masted schooner tall ship (actually, it is a replica of a ship built in Puget Sound about 150 years ago). Then, we got underway, headed for Poulsbo, once again, to get another piece of teak, so I can make a pin-rail for the port side. En route, Ashley called and confirmed that she cannot (cheaply) change her plane tickets, so she is coming out on 26 Aug for a 10 day visit. Now, we have to figure out how/if we can squeeze in a quick trip to Canada between 9 Aug (when the border is allegedly going to open to fully vaccinated Americans, like us) and 26 Aug. We anchored in Liberty Bay at 12:40 and immediately rowed into the dock, stopped in at Longship Marine for the teak (Bert was impressed when I showed him the photo of my new pin-rail, with belaying pins; he commented that we probably have the only Beneteau 423 in the world with belaying pins) and then walked up to Safeway for groceries. We just missed the bus, so, rather than wait an hour for the next one, we walked back down the hill with all our groceries. We were back on the boat by 14:45. I spent the rest of the afternoon working up my 2nd pin-rail; they both look pretty good, if I do say so; very yaar. Chicken satays and mixed veggies for dinner.
