It was another beautiful, sunny start to the day and the solarium was nicely warmed up in time for an al fresco breakfast. Today, we actually did manage to pull up our stakes (so to speak) and depart Liberty Bay; I believe that is the longest duration we ever spent at one location on anchor. Because of the relatively shallow depth at LW (16 ft) and the length of our new anchor snubber (25 ft), the bottom 1.3 of the snubber rope, including anti-chafing, etc., was nicely coated with thick, dark, stinky mud. So, the anchor washing pump was well exercised cleaning all that muck off. Anyway, we were under way by 10:30 and motored south-ish. We tried to sail a couple of times, but the winds were very inconsistent and flukey, so we mainly motored, arriving at Port Orchard Marina at 13:15. After checking in, we walked into and all around the town (there is not much to it) and were back on board (after long, hot, free showers) in time for Captain’s Hour. For dinner, we strolled into town to check out the recommended Bay Street Bistro. The news today is that the Canadian border may open on 9 Aug, to Americans with valid vaccination certificates and recent negative Covid-19 test results. Still need details on whether they will accept our Texas certificates, where we can get tests that will only be 3 days old when we arrive and where we can clear in. But, it is hopeful news.

For some reason, we slept in till 09:00 today; could be because it was cool and wet when we did wake up, and stayed that way all morning. After breakfast, we caught the ferry across the sound to Bremerton, but all the museums and galleries were closed on Monday and Tuesday. There being nothing much to do, we walked around for a bit, then caught the 12:15 ferry back to Port Orchard. We had lunch at the Dock Bar & Eatery, which was OK, but very slow. After lunch, the Admiral did a load of laundry and I did some work on the cap rails; I got a coat of Le Tonkinois on the port side cap rail after a little bit of prep work. We went to La Palapa for a tacos dinner; OK, but not good Tex-Mex.
