We slept well last night; the hotel’s AC works very well. We were up early to be at the Skyline by 08:30, when they open the gate. Plus, I wanted to have a conversation with North Island Boat regarding the fact that they seem to have got very little bottom paint on and I cannot see any evidence that they waxed and buffed the topsides. The manager, Chris, came over to the boat with me and we agreed that they had sanded, primed and bottom painted the keel and got a bit of paint on the rudder, but they completely missed the bald spot on the bow and the area where the blister repair was done, along with the bottom of the rudder. Their painter soon sorted that out. Regarding waxing and buffing the topsides, NIB, took that to mean the deck, not the hull; so, I was not altogether pleased, but had at least go something for my money. We spent the next 3 hours getting the shore lines organized, putting the covers on the fenders and getting them in place, switching on and checking the VHF and chart-plotter, exercising all thru-hulls, replacing the raw-water impeller on the generator, topping up the anti-freeze on the main engine, and re-lashing the kayaks down. After a quick lunch, the boatyard guys showed up about 13:45 to get ready to launch the boat. We were in the water (it floated first time) at 14:05. Engine on at 14:10, followed by re-installing the boat speed impeller. The engine worked well and started on the first touch of the starter. I pulled away from the dock at 14:15 and the Admiral took the car around to Cap Sante Marina to await my arrival. I motored out of Fidalgo Bay, turned around the west end of the island and headed east into Guemes Channel, against 2.0 - 2.5 kn of foul tide. Just as I turned into the Channel, I unfurled the main-sail and motor-sailed for the next 30 minutes. I pulled into berth P81, stern-in, starboard side to, with the Admiral there to catch my lines, at 15:45. We spent the next two hours flushing out the water tanks and pipes, then came on back to the hotel for Captain’s hour and to get ready for dinner; we made a reservation tonight at Anthony’s. My hip (a pinched sciatica nerve?) bothered me all day. But only when I moved my left leg. We decided last night not to move onto the boat today, and that was a good decision; one more night in the hotel and we will move onto the boat tomorrow.
