The alarm jangled us out of bed at 06:00; short night. We were underway by 07:00 and checked in with CBP by phone and were cleared into the USA by 08:22. The wind was light, mainly southerly, so we motored the whole way to Cap Sante Marina, where we tied up in slip C-26 at 12:24. The Admiral went straight up to do the laundry and I walked up to Ace Hardware to fill up the propane tank, then stopped by NAPA for a 16” long screw-driver (for the hot water heater replacement), followed by a stop at West Marine to collect the new barometer and finally the marina office to collect our new (replacement) hot water heater. Back at the boat, I (foolishly, as it turned out) thought I could pull out the old water heater and install the new one in a couple of hours, so I got started at about 14:30. I finally finished at 19:30 after another trip to NAPA to change out my screw-driver for the correct one and a trip to Sebo’s to get the plumbing bits i needed to interface the new heater with the old piping. Once it was hooked up, it seems to work fine, although I expect I will have to replace one of the fresh water supply hoses. I had to replace all the engine coolant that was in the hot water heater heat exchanger. We finally got squared away enough to wolf down an excellent omelette about 20:30. After a nice hot shower on the boat (to prove up the new water heater, we went to bed.
