We all had another excellent sleep and were up and moving by 08:30 for a quick run up to Barb’s Buns for a load up of carbohydrates. Back to the boat for a real breakfast, we worried about fresh water, as Ganges Marina had a water ban on. Jim and I bought 12 liters of fresh water at the grocery store and then I filled up two flexible water butts at the washroom with 4 or 5 gallons of water. About the time I staggered back down to the boat with these last two, the Admiral noticed that the water had been turned on at the dock, so we filled up the forward water tank. We finally got away from the dock at 11:45, and got the sails up almost immediately. After beating south out of Ganges Harbour, we bore off to port and headed NW up Trincomali Channel. The wind was a perfect SE 12 - 14 kn and behind us, so we just had to hoist the spinnaker and had a most excellent run up to the south end of Wallace Island. After dousing the spinnaker and sailing past the entrance of Conover Cove, we rounded up and furled the main, then headed into the cove, where we anchored, ran a line ashore and rafted up to Massilia at 14:35. After a late lunch, we all rowed ashore and went for a nice walk on Wallace Island. Back to the boat about 17:30, Jim, John and I all went for a swim - a very brief swim, to be sure, in 16.9 C water; very refreshing indeed, followed by a nice warm transom shower. Happy hour and dinner aboard (salmon and mixed veggies - lovely) whilst observing a beautiful sunset. Life is indeed good. We played guitar and sang in the cockpit until 23:00. Hope we did not annoy our boat neighbors too much.
