After another excellent breakfast, we bid adieu to Astoria and headed over the bridge to Washington State, through intermittent mist and fog, stopping in at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center to top off our knowledge of this most excellent adventure. Then, we headed up the coast road to Port Townsend. We checked into the Blue Gull Inn in Port Townsend and immediately headed down to the NW Maritime Center, hoping to pick up some more good 1/4” hemp, with which to make up a few more rugs; unfortunately, they have transferred their entire stock of rope to another store, so we walked out empty-handed. Since we had missed lunch, we walked over to Sirens for crab-cakes and a couple of beers. Followed by an excellent dinner at Alchemy Bistro and Wine Bar, where we last stopped in with John and Laurie and Jack and Kathi back in 2011. Nobody seems to remember when that was: some time in the ancient past. Later, we walked back down to Sirens to listen to a blues/roots band “Backwoods Hucksters“.
