Another clear, cool dawn found us in Chemainus. Having seen the town, in its entirety, yesterday, we moved on fairly early and were under way by 09:50. As soon as we got out of the bay, the wind was N13, so we killed the engine and sailed on a nice broad reach, for about 15 minutes. Then, the wind went to SE/SW 3. We tried to make headway for the next half hour and finally gave up in the very flukey winds. After making a close pass of Crofton (probably not worth a stop in future) we motored on into Maple Bay, where we tied up at the marina at 12:18. While we were digesting lunch in the cockpit, a nice couple from Austin stopped by for a chat (they have chartered a power boat out of Anacortes Yacht Charters). We then walked up into “town” for a visit. The marina is about a mile from the actual village of Maple Bay, but we had a nice walk around the marina. Later, the Admiral decided to do some laundry, so I cleaned out and shocked the aft freshwater tank (it had a bit of particulate matter in it) and refilled it. Happy hour and dinner aboard. I played guitar for a bit after dinner and our boat neighbors graciously sat out and listened; at least they did not throw rotten tomatoes.
