Another glorious, clear day greeted us when we rolled out of bed at 07:20. We were up at the store at 08:00 opening time for a fresh cinnamon bun, but they do not have any today, so we settled for a giant Morning Glory muffin. We are headed south again today - just a few miles to Genoa Bay - and the turn to flood (foul current) at Sansum Narrows was at 10:00, so we headed out at about 09:30. There was a bit of wind (N 8) just out of the marina, so we shut down the engine and sailed south through the bottom of Stuart Channel and into the Sansum Narrows. Since we were sailing, we were a few minutes late for slack water, turn to flood, but we managed to sail all the way through the narrows with just 0.5 kn of foul current. About a mile south of the narrows, the wind went slack, so we motored on around the corner and into Cowichan Bay. As it was not even noon yet, we wandered over toward Cowichan Harbour and found an empty slot at the pier at the Cowichan Maritime Society, which has a very nice museum and wooden boat school. We spent a pleasant hour and a half wandering through the exhibits and admiring the various wooden boats they have built and are restoring.

After a quick lunch aboard, we pulled away from the dock and then sailed on over to Genoa Bay, where we tied up to the dock at 13:45. Altogether, a very nice little sail. We went for a short walk around Genoa Bay, shopped at one of the local art galleries (didn’t buy anything), and then spent an hour stringing up the (grandchild-proof) safety netting on the port side, in the blazing heat of the late afternoon; we did not finish, but we made a good start and got about half way done. After happy hour aboard, we had a lovely meal at the Genoa Bay Cafe, where we last dined out about 21 years ago - tempus fugit.
