It rained pretty heavily last night and the front obviously came through in the wee hours as the wind went round to the northwest in the night. When we got up at 08:00, it was clear as a bell outside and the wind was WNW 10 - 15. We loitered over an excellent breakfast (omelettes and blueberry muffins) and finally got going about 11:20. As soon as we got out of Ballet Bay, the sails were unfurled (full jib, 6 reefs in the main) and we started beating up the Malaspina Strait. We tacked back and forth all the way to Grief Point, where we were able to free off for the final couple of miles into Powell River, where we tied up at Westview Marina, Powell River, at 15:52. 27.4 nautical miles logged for 0.9 engine hours. What a good sail! Just as we arrived, I received a message from John asking me to collect some charts for him at Marine Traders before they closed at 17:00. So, I went up there straight away and collected his stuff. We had dinner at Culaccino, Italian bistro. We got back in time to watch the sunset and later the overflight of the ISS - beautiful clear skies and a lovely evening.
