Another quiet night in the PacNW. We were up at 08:00 to enjoy the warm weather and get ready to head north. We were underway by 09:30 and after a quick diversion to Thormanby Island to check out the sandy beaches, we headed NW into the Malaspina Strait. The wind was SE 6 - 10, so we immediately had the kite up again, this time for three hours. This is unprecedented since we have had the boat: spinnaker runs for 3 out of 4 days. The kite stayed up, including 2 jibes until we were ready to turn into Ballet Bay, during which time we handily out-sailed two other boats on similar headings with kites up. The anchor was set in Ballet Bay at 14:15. After we got settled, I rigged up the sail for “Swallow” and had a nice romp around the anchorage, including a brief lesson for Jake, which proved somewhat difficult because the wind was very fluky and gusty. Back in time for happy hour and dinner aboard.
