Jake slept in this morning, not us - Jake. Anyway, after an excellent breakfast and a nice warm morning, we dropped the mooring ball line just after 09:00 and headed south across the Gibson Shoal. After clearing the shoal, we turned right to head west and a bit north up the Strait of Georgia. The wind was perfect - SW 6-8, so we had the kite up in a jiffy. By 11:10, the wind had dropped enough that we were not making sufficient headway, so we doused the spinnaker and motored through Welcome Passage and turned into Smuggler Cove, where we anchored with a line ashore adjacent to the Sunset Cliff at 13:00. After lunch, we went for a long walk to Frenchman’s Cove and then blazed a new trail back to Smuggler Cove via Wilbraham Point. Back at the boat, Jake and I went for a long swim in the 20.8 C water - lovely. We were anchored in the absolute prime spot for enjoying the sunset, which shone on us until it finally dipped below the horizon of Vancouver Island. Happy hour and dinner (lamb chops and corn on the cob aboard. I played guitar for a while after dinner. When it got dark, we marveled at the stars before moonrise and saw a couple of shooting stars.
