We were up early to beat the crowds headed into Canada, and were away from the mooring ball at 08:50. We checked in with Canada Customs in Poet’s Cove at 09:45 (piece of cake again, these Canadians are so welcoming and polite) and immediately left to head over to Port Browning to get a few groceries. On the way over, in international waters in the middle of Boundary Pass, we pumped out the HT’s, or at least the forward tank. As expected, the macerator pump on the aft tank is not working. After we checked in at Port Browning Marina at 11:15, we had lunch at the pub, then went up to True Value for groceries. Back at the boat, I tackled the dreaded macerator pump; I must be getting better at it as this time, it only took me 2.5 hours to complete the nasty task. I did an autopsy on the old pump to try to determine the root cause of failure this time, but never could figure it out and lost interest after digging around in the s41t for about 15 minutes. All the Canadian boats are decked out in Canada flags and bunting in anticipation of Canada Day tomorrow, so I ran up the International Code flags for “Congratulations Canada” (DUZ - Canada flag). I’m sure all our dock mates will instantly refer to the 1931 Edition of the International Code of Signals to decipher the message. Happy hour and dinner aboard.
