Another day in paradise. We slept well last night, or at least I did, although we did get waked a few times during the night; it could only be wakes from tankers and/or container ships working their way to or from Vancouver. It was clear and warm when we woke up around 08:00. The original plan was to go to Patos Island for the night, but the harbor there is open to the NW and the forecast is now predicting NW winds for the night, plus it is less than 1/2 mile from the main shipping lane to/from Vancouver, so we are thinking we will get waked a lot. So, we opted to go to Prevost Harbor on the north side of Stuart Island, where we picked up a mooring ball at 13:00. On the way over, we had fun looking for back-eddies and avoiding the worst of the flood tide, but there was no wind and nothing else to occupy ourselves with on the way over. After we were tied off, we immediately hopped in Swallow and rowed over to the state park dock, paid our mooring fee and headed for the two main (actually, the only) tourist attractions on Stuart Island; the one-room schoolhouse and the Turn Point Lighthouse, about a 6-mile round trip hike. The Admiral swears we were here in 2012 with our friends John and Laurie on their boat “Massilia”, but I don’t remember any of it. The Admiral thinks maybe John and I had a little too much planning fluid the night before and I have damaged that part of my brain. Well, anyway, it was a darned good walk and we were well worn out by the time we got back to the boat; fortunately, we were not late for happy hour and a large, medicinal G&T and a shower put all things to rights again. Tomorrow, Canada.
