We had a wonderful breakfast at Netshed No. 9. After another brief walk around the main shopping district, we got under way at 11:30. Before we headed straight to our destination, we motored a couple of miles south into the Tacoma Narrows, so I could get a good photo of the current bridges and get a feel for the strength of the current, which was ebbing at the time; we never saw more than 1.5 kn against. The wind had got up a bit, so we sailed back north to the top of the Tacoma Narrows, then headed a bit to starboard toward the entry to Quartermaster Bay, which is tucked into the south end of Vashon Island. During the sail over, we all got a number of good photos of Mount Rainier in the clear atmosphere. We picked up a mooring ball at Dockton Marine Park (run by King County) at 14:00. I unlimbered the dinghy and rowed everyone ashore for a walk in the park, arriving back at the boat before happy hour. We cooked lamb chops and corn cobs for dinner and enjoyed a long dusk.
