The alarm in my head went off at 06:50 and I got up and e-mailed in yet another request for a permit to enter Glacier Bay. We pulled away from the dock at 07:28, stopped at the fuel dock to top up the diesel tank and then headed out of Nanaimo. At Entrance I., the wind piped up to NW 16(right on the nose), but the sea was pretty flat and we were able to make a comfortable 6.5 knots of SOG toward our target. As the morning progressed, the wind gradually died down and the flood set in behind us, so we made good time to Henry Bay, off the north end of Denman Island, where we dropped anchor in 17 m of water at 15:13; our first anchorage of the year. Henry Bay is about 1.5 miles south of Sandy Island, where we have stopped before. We did not go ashore, but just hung out on the boat, enjoying the heat and doing some forward planning for the next few days; the fine weather looks like it is going to persist for the next few days, but the winds are weird and after Seymour Narrows, the tidal currents are working against us during the bulk of the day, so we are going to have to work around that issue. Along the way, we listened to a bit of the Astros @ CWS game; Astros won 4-3 to move to 2nd place in the AL West. For dinner, we grilled salmon on the back deck. And then, Terri had a crown fall out during dinner. So, it looks like tomorrow, we are going to run into Comox to try to find a dentist who will do an emergency repair.
