The power boats started zipping about off Gibsons about 6:30, so we were constantly getting rolled or slapped by the wakes. We finally got out of bed about 08:00. After a quick breakfast, we got underway at 09:15 and went round the north end of Bowen Island to Vancouver. We were tied up in slip A-48 at False Creek Fisherman’s Wharf by 12:12. After lunch, Terri tackled the laundry and I went in search of the 40 micro-Farad capacitor that is the likely culprit of the generator’s failure to perform (I hope). I finally found it underneath a cover over the generator motor and was able to extract it. Then, I tidied up the cockpit and walked over to Granville Island to buy wine and desert items for tonight’s meal with the Readshaw boys. Terri and I got back to the boat at about the same time and then had showers to prep for the dinner.  Mike and Matt surprised us with a visit to the boat about 17:00. After a quick drink, we walked over to Mike’s house for dinner with the boys and their families; we got to meet Theo (son of Matt and Julia) and found out that Juliana is pregnant with their second daughter. Ashley finally arrived from Seattle at about 23:00; Julia and Juliana and both babies had already gone to bed. We left about midnight and after giving Matt a ride home, came back to the boat and finally went to bed about 02:00.

After last night’s celebrations, we all slept in until nearly 09:00. Mike invited us over to watch the South Africa v Ireland World Cup Rugby match. While waiting for Ashley to get ready, I moved the kayak from the starboard side racks to the top of the deck and lashed it down; we will be on port tack all the way across the Strait of Georgia tomorrow and I do not want a repeat of the kayak getting hammered all the way. All of the Readshaws were at Mike’s house, so Ashley got to see the J’s and meet the babies. When the match finished about 13:45, we drove to Home Depot to see if they had a capacitor - they did not, then to Save On Food for some groceries. Then we drove back to the boat and walked over to Granville Island to have a late lunch at Alimentaria Mexican Cuisine. We did a bit of shopping at Granville Island, then came back to the boat to watch the Astros v Kansas City. I also filled up the forward water tank.
