We awoke to an overcast and somewhat cooler day. I was not feeling great (not too bad, but not great), but we decided to move on to Taku Harbor anyway. After paying off the harbor fees, we moved over to the fuel dock and topped up the tank. Then, we got away about 09:30 and motored out into the stream. The current was against us all the way to Arden Point, but then finally started to ebb south. After an uneventful trip, we tied up at the float (provided by the City of Juneau) at 14:47. I promptly took a nap. After dinner, I was not feeling well at all and went to bed at 07:30.  Terri put me in the aft cabin to hopefully avoid catching whatever I’ve got.

After yesterday’s attack of whatever, I slept in until 08:30 (i.e., 13 hours in bed). When I finally got up, I felt a little less congested, although my head was pounding. We decided to just sit tight for the day and see if I can work through this ailment. It rained all morning and most of the day and was cool. The morning was brightened with the news that Justin Verlander has been picked up by Houston just before the August 1 trade deadline. This is good news for the Astros. I went up and down throughout the day and Terri finally convinced me to take a Covid-19 test. The good news is, I don’t have Mastodon flu from cooling my G&Ts with 10,000 year-old ice. Th bad news is that I tested positive for Covid-19. Terri tested negative shortly afterward, so that is really good news. Now, the question is, what do we do tomorrow? The flood starts running north at 08:40, so we will get up in time to make a start to Juneau, in case I do not improve overnight. If I feel better, we will probably just hang out here in Taku Harbor for another day to see how it progresses. I don’t want to get any farther from civilization, in case I get worse, or Terri tests positive. Ironically, just after the test results came back, I started to feel better; go figure. We watched the Astros beat the Cleveland Guardians in the afternoon; Framber Valdez pitched his first No-No, just to let JV know he is still the Astros ace. I headed for bed early again. But not before we ran the generator for a few minutes; it was sounding funny at first and I think it was not getting enough cooling water. I checked the strainer and it appears to be alright, and the engine kept on running, so I guess it is getting enough water. I’ll check the impeller when I get back into fighting form.

The alarm woke me up at 07:30. I was feeling much better, compared to yesterday, so we decided to stay put for another day and went back to bed. I slept in until nearly 10:30. Terri is still feeling fine, which is very good news. The sun came out later in the morning, and I moved out onto the dock to sit in a chair and remove my infected self farther away from Terri. It looks like this may have been too late, as she had a slight fever and a headache by the evening. F….ing bus and f….ing non-vaccinating disease-spreaders!
