Wow, another day shot. After listening to the marine forecast, we decided to move on up to Tahsis, as it is only 12 miles up Tahsis Inlet. We had to wait for the tide to come up enough to get over the bar across the inlet to the inner cove, but we had the anchor up at 09:48. The wind in Tahsis Inlet was 10 kn right on the nose, so we motored all the way to Tahsis, where we tied up (after taking on 49.9 liters of diesel) at Westview Marina at 12:25. After a tasty burger at the Westview Marina Grill, we went into town to shop for groceries and fill up propane tanks. There was, unfortunately, although not unexpectedly, not much in the way of fresh produce and pretty meager choices elsewhere, as well, but we will not starve to death going forward. Talking to some south-bounders who are here, there is not much in the way of groceries at either Zeballos, Walter’s Cove (where Matt and Julia will join us), or Winter Harbour; it’s a long way to Port Hardy.  After stowing all the groceries and topping up the water tanks, we had a late start to Captain’s hour, but had a grand view of the daily evening feeding of the eagles with all the fish guts from the fish caught during the day. We counted up to 18 eagles that all came in for the free grub; quite a spectacle.

After a leisurely breakfast, we did a few loads of laundry, had lunch at the marina restaurant, then went into town for another round of grocery shopping. Back at the boat, I cut off a couple of 10” long boards (from the maple 1x4 I salvaged off the beach at Friendly Cove) for use as stiffeners around the auto-helm anchor point. I had a shower on board, then we all walked up to Sally’s Grill for dinner; very tasty but huge portions - we all brought half of our meals back to the boat in a go-box. Then, it was early to bed after watching the eagles for a bit.
