We slept in a bit in the morning, but finally got going about 09:20. John fished along the way, but I did not bother (to give him a chance to catch up). We motored all the way to Winter Harbour, and tied up at the Govt. Dock at 11:40. After filling the water tank and all available portable vessels, we took the re-cyclables and trash up to the dump and had lunch. Massilia showed up about 12:20. Terri and I went for a walk to the big tree, very nice, and on to the beach (average, pebble beach), then back to the showers. We were finished just at 14:00, so I went up and bought a few essential groceries. We were back on the boat and ready to go at 14:45, so we moved over to the fuel dock, bought 27 liters of diesel, then departed Winter Harbour. We motored on over to Browning Inlet, where we anchored in 7.5 m of water at 15:54. Massilia ambled in and rafted up to us at about 16:40.

We slept in again, but got up in time to prepare our expedition to Gray Bay and the excellent beach reported to be there. At about 10:40, we loaded into our dinghies and rowed into the lagoon at the top of the inlet, looking for a sign of the trailhead. We could find no sign anywhere along the western shore, so we proceeded as to the south end of the lagoon as we could on the slowly falling tide, where we pulled ashore and tied the boat up to a screw anchor up in the marsh. We followed bear trails around the margin of the marsh, where it meets the forest, for a couple of hours, but were unable to find any way to penetrate into the forest to search for the alleged trail to the beach. Finally giving up about 13:30, we found our way back to the dinghies and pushed off into the lagoon for a late lunch afloat. We rowed around the edge of the whole lagoon on the way back to the boat, but again were unable to find any sign of a trailhead. We did find a deserted barge on the beach. Back at the boats, it was time for Captains Hour and dinner. I believe we will be off early tomorrow for the 25 mile run up to San Josef Bay and Sea Otter Cove.
