Last night we turned the fridge off as we went to bed at 22:00 and I turned it back on at about 01:40. That seems to have resulted in more optimal operations: the cold plate was defrosted this morning and none of the food had thawed out at all. We were up before 08:00 and loafed around for a bit after breakfast, then got underway about 09:30, headed toward Sidney, BC. Passing through Speiden Channel with the tide behind us, we crossed Haro Strait, dodging one down-bound freighter along the way. Upon arrival, we checked in with Canada Customs, no problems, and were in our slip by 12:25. Pretty much straightaway, we walked up to Fairway for a major grocery shopping run. We have also decided to stay here through Sunday night. After the grocery run, I went back up to the liquor store for some essential supplies. It started raining about 16:00 and kept on going through the evening, so we just stayed in and had dinner aboard.

We slept in, having nothing in particular to do. After breakfast, we went up to the grocery store and got a few more essentials for the adventure. I got out my long, skinny brush and swabbed out all of the limber holes I could get to, in hopes of clearing out some more of the diesel residue from the bilge. Terri did some laundry after lunch, while I watched the Astros beat the KC Royals and tidied up the chart table. I also started up the generator for the first time this year (it started on the first try) and let it run for 15 minutes. Then, we had showers on board, followed by happy hour. We met John and Laurie at 10-Acres on the Pier for dinner and had an excellent reunion with them. They came back to the boat for tea after dinner and stayed until nearly 23:00.
