We were up at the crack of 07:45 and dropped the mooring ball at 09:00. It was foggy early, but it lifted inland (i.e., in Freeport), so we were good as we headed SW toward Portland, although we could see it off in the distance where we were headed. At Hussey Sound, we headed out to sea and rounded Cape Elizabeth at 11:30. It was a bit lumpy offshore and the wind was on the nose, so we motored all day, with the main sail out about 1/2 way. The mouth of the Saco River hove into sight about 13:00 and we motored about 4 miles up the river to the Saco Town (free) moorings, where we were all hooked up by 13:45. As we started up the river, I kept thinking it all looked familiar; when I checked the log later, it turns out we stopped in here in mid-September of 2014 during our run south from Maine to Jamestown, RI; that time, we motored all the way up the river to the head of navigation at Saco and stayed at a mooring at the Saco YC. As soon as we left the sea and started up the river, the temperature shot up; by the time we were on the mooring, it was about 90 F. After lunch, we spent the afternoon swimming and planning the next couple of legs of our journey; first to Boston, where we will stop for a few days to help our daughter relocate there, and then on toward New York, where our friends from Vancouver will join us. The afternoon was a bit marred by a speed boat that drover circles around us for about an hour pulling a tube around and waking us most annoyingly. Dinner aboard. It cooled off a bit after sunset, but was still muggy and close below when we went to bed about 22:00, but the mosquitoes were out in force, so we could not stay up to enjoy the light breeze and watch the Perseid meteor showers.
