The dawn broke clear and lovely; another day in paradise here in Jenkins Cove. After a leisurely breakfast, we decided upon a scenic cruise to the top of Belleisle Bay and then back down to Kingston Creek. The trip up Belleisle Bay was uneventful but picturesque. This is probably the prettiest stretch of water along the whole Saint John River watershed, at least we think so. We ended up down at Kingston Creek just after 13:00, having sailed the last hour, including sailing up to the anchor drop (we only started the engine because the anchor winch will not operate without an electrical signal from the alternator; i.e., the engine has to be running). We settled in for a late lunch and a lazy afternoon. By about 15:45, the wind had got up as predicted to SW10-20 and was being funneled by the SW/NE trending Kingston Creek inlet, with an overnight forecast of SW15-25. We were comfortable enough and were happy with the holding, but the boat was yawing about a bit with the gusts and direction changes of +/-20 degrees, which can make for a noisy and sleep-deprived night listening to the anchor chain gripe against the bow roller and work back and forth across the bottom, so we picked up and headed back to Jenkins Cove, which is much more sheltered from the SW winds. We sailed off the anchor and all the way to the anchor set in Jenkins Cove, arriving just after 17:00, pleasantly in time for happy hour. After dinner aboard - grilled shrimp and fresh salad - we went for a row around the cove, but did not see any sign of last night’s beaver. Our friends from last night must have been out for dinner as there was no one hanging around their dock when we rowed past.
