I woke up at 04:30 as I could hear “Shelduck” pulling their anchor. After a short debate with the Admiral, we decided to get moving as well, to take full advantage of the flood going up the Bay of Fundy. We were underway by 05:45 and went racing up the coast at between 8.0 and 9.9 knots SOG, which is very pleasant, tying up at the Eastport Harbor Authority dock at 09:25. The 30.2 mile (over the ground) trip logged only 24.6 miles through the water; nice. “Shelduck” pulled in right after us, but left almost immediately - guess it was a bit dear for them. Our mail was waiting for us at the office and we stopped in for coffee and a cinnamon roll at the Moose Island Bakery. We will only stay here one night, as they offer no power or water for a not very economic rate, and anticipate heading over the Canadian border tomorrow to St. Andrews, NB. After lunch at the Waco Grill, we walked over to the Moose Island Marine Hardware for a look and a long chat with the staff, then over to check out the Eastport Chowder House, which has a two-slip marina and fuel, but it was not attractive enough to entice us to move from the town dock or stay another night. After dinner aboard, we watched the “Stationgracht” come in and anchor off the harbor. Tomorrow, they will offload a feeder barge (works at one of the local salmon farms) and a 42 ft Sabre motor yacht, bought by a Boston lawyer in Antwerp and shipped across the Atlantic to Eastport.
