Another restful night, after the wind died down a bit, but it got cold again (i.e, the quilt and polartec blanket were back on the bed), so we slept in. As the tide was not favorable for getting through Letete Passage until after noon, we lazed around the boat, read, did a few chores and watched life in the harbour. Steve, the very helpful wharfinger, brought out a print-out (from his laptop) of Dipper Harbour, tomorrow night’s destination, as I was unable to obtain any paper charts for the coast in town. After lunch, we let go the mooring ball at about 13:30, dead HW, and headed east out of St. Andrews Harbour. The wind was in the south, so we got the sails up immediately and sailed all the way across Passamaquoddy Bay to our rendezvous with the northern end of Letete Passage. We must have timed it right, as the ebb was flowing out at between 1.5 and 3 knots. It was a bit turbulent at times, but no worse than Hell Gate or other tidal gates we have been through. Once out in the Bay of Fundy, we stayed close to the coast to avoid the ebb current and were able to sail nearly to the entrance to Beaver Harbour, when the wind finally dropped to less than 5 kn. We motored to the head of the eastern part of the bay and anchored, but this part of the bay is wide open to the south and the swell came right in and made it a bit rolly; the Admiral was not pleased. So, after a few minutes, we hauled the anchor and moved over to the western side of the bay. Turns out, there is a new floating dock that is not shown on the charts. There was plenty of room for us, so we cruised in and tied up for the night; no sign of the harbor master, so we seem to have a free berth. The Admiral is much happier, and therefore, so is the Captain. We got settled just in time for happy hour and dinner aboard; chicken thighs and rice.
