Today is our 37th anniversary. We decided what we wanted as a present was to be anchored at Rhodes Bay and have the luxury of sleeping in a bit. Lucky us - we got exactly what we wanted. Plus, it cooled off dramatically in the night and was only 54F when we woke up. We pulled out of Rhodes Bay just after 09:30 and motored with a NW 10 wind behind us south, up the river to Standing Rock Creek on the east bank or LDB of the Tennessee River, where we anchored in 10 ft of water at 13:40. It was still cool and overcast when we anchored, so the idea of swimming kinda fell off the radar. The Admiral cooked some delicious bran muffins for afternoon tea and they helped keep the chill at bay. We have already traveled beyond the southern extent of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreational area; indeed we have made it to the state of Tennessee. What this means is that the area all around this creek is developed with either high dollar houses or bar/boat ramps. Still, it is pleasant enough and only 24 miles from Pebble Isle Marina. Bob and Diane on “Islandia” pulled into the creek and anchored right beside us just after 16:00 and we had a grand reunion with them; we have not seen them since Milwaukee. After dinner, we rowed back over to “Islandia” and had a sing-along and a good, long chat until midnight.
