The alarm woke us up at 06:30 and we hit the road by 07:30, after a quick breakfast. Siri advised that the trip duration was 1:35, but it took us two hours to make it, so we were a few minutes late collecting Matt and Julia, who had flown overnight from Vancouver. It was great to see Matt again after a gap of 5 years - he has matured into a very nice young man - and it was our first time to meet Julia, a charming young lady. After a quick hello, we piled back into the car and headed back to Pebble Isle, although we did stop for additional groceries on the way back at the very nice Kroger’s in Dickson. Back at the marina, I threw passengers, baggage and groceries out on the pavement and took off like a bat out of hell for Paris, to turn in the rental car by the noon deadline. The Admiral was to follow shortly in the courtesy van, after she got our guests settled in. Unfortunately, she had to wait for 1.5 hours for the courtesy van to be returned to the marina by another patron. I had a nice time walking around Paris looking for a place to get out of the sun and enjoy a cool beer, without success. We were all back on the boat by 15:00, woke Matt and Julia up from a nap and headed out of the harbor at 15:30. It was fine on the river, once we got moving, and we made it to our anchorage at Rockport Landing, behind an island off the main channel, at 17:00, where we anchored in 27 feet of water, in about 1 knot of current. We all went for a refreshing swim just as the sun dropped below the nearby hills and enjoyed happy hour and dinner al-fresco as the sun finally set. Matt had brought an excellent bottle of Laphroig as a gift from duty-free, so we had to sample this for desert. After dark, we enjoyed a bit of star-gazing under cloudless skies.
