About 3:00 in the morning, I woke up with the sudden thought that heating up the raw water hose might make it soft enough and/or expand it such that I could work it on (don’t know why I did not think of this yesterday during the heat of the battle). After we finally got up at 07:30, I borrowed the Admiral’s hair dryer and applied judicious heat to the hose and within 15 minutes had it pushed all the way onto the fitting, clamped in place and leak-tested. Now we have two fully-functional (including raw water flush) toilets again. Oh, the joys of cruising. After breakfast, we cleaned up the decks, filled up the water tanks, pumped out the HTs, topped up the diesel tank and headed for Covered Portage Cove. We anchored in Covered Portage Cove, which is a lovely little cove in shallow water (too shallow for us if the lake was not 1 m higher than normal), completely surrounded by granite cliffs and hills. “Islandia” anchored a hundred yards away and there were 11 other boats in here at noon. After lunch, we lathered up with Deet and went for a hike up to the top of the granite hills surrounding the cove to enjoy the views. The hike up was great and the views from the top were awesome. We had cocktails on “Islandia” again. By 18:00, there were 23 boats in the inner cove, including us, plus a number in the outer cove.
