We bid a fond farewell to Pierre and Suzanne on “Encore” this morning. Just after 09:30, we had the hook up as well and headed west into a 8-10 knot westerly wind and motored all the way through Little Detroit and Whalesback Channel to John Harbour, where we anchored at 12:45. After lunch, I spent nearly two hours fashioning yet another replacement hinge for the aft head toilet seat out of a 1” wide piece of aluminum bar, that I have been carrying on board for just such exigencies; I guess it will last at least as long as the cheap plastic ones that came with the original toilet. Always, the toilets. By the time I was finished with that chore, the wind was up to W16 and we sort of lost interest in going for a row around the bay. Plus, it was happy hour. So, we settled in for the evening. Assuming the forecast for tomorrow is correct - light easterlies - we plan to head to East Grant Island, which is about halfway between here and Drummond, MI, where we will check back into the USA.
