It rained a goodly portion of the night, although it was not heavy and there was no wind. The rain continued intermittently through breakfast. It finally cleared up a bit just before 11:00, so we decided to move over to Pare Island, about 1.5 miles away as the crow flies, but 8 or 9 miles by boat. We motored back down the inlet past Cow, Matthews and Emerald Islands and by San Souci on Frying Pan Island. Lots of boat traffic on the main small craft channel, including about a dozen cigarette boats, all going 50 knots and making a HUGE noise; really annoying. As we past Frying Pan Island, the wind was fair - SW 9 - so we put up the jib, cut the engine and had a nice sail all the way up Spider Bay. Boat speed was only 3.2 kn or so, but it was nice and quiet and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. As we past Culliton Point, we could see that the anchorage there was empty and, it being more sheltered than Pare I., we decided to pull in there, where we stopped just outside the entrance to Goose Neck Bay. After lunch, we took “Swallow” for a row into Goose Neck Bay; at the narrows, it was definitely too shallow and narrow to get “c’est le bon” through, so it was well we stopped where we did. Goose Neck Bay was very pretty and totally deserted, although there were half a dozen campsites. Four canoes worth of campers left Goose Neck as we were finishing lunch, and that was the last of the weekend campers. Back to the boat in time for a swim and a shave, followed by happy hour and dinner aboard. This is our 6th night in a row on the hook; life is good. Tomorrow, we will head in to Parry Sound to re-provision and get a brief taste of civilization.
