Cold and fog were the order of the day when we got up, but the winds were forecast to be favorable, so, about 09:00 we got under weigh. Offshore, the fog was even thicker, at times down to just a couple hundred yards, but at least we did not have to worry about lobster traps, lobster fishermen and rocks everywhere (like Maine). As we went on, the fog waxed and waned, but never left us completely all the way to Matane and we had a few light showers as well. The forecast WNW winds never did appear and we had light NE (i.e., right on the nose) the whole way; it was getting a bit lumpy, with a long-period swell coming in from the Gulf during the last hour. We we tied up at Yacht Club de Matane by 15:30. It is a nice, informal little club, but shallow; we came in 3 hours after low water and at times I had less than 1 foot under the keel, so this place is only usable during the upper half of the tidal range. Dinner was at Restaurant Cargo - very nice. Riveting time-lapse video of our fog-bound trip from Rimouski to Matane is available at this link:
