It was a quiet night in French Creek. We were up around 08:00 to a cool, cloudless day. From 09:00 to about 10:30, John had a work meeting with the town engineer of Qualicum Beach and a couple of consultants regarding a seafront road/walkway improvement; we all sat around the cockpit table on “c’est le bon” to review the drawings and talk. The tide and forecast were favorable and we departed French Creek at 11:45. Although the wind was on the nose again, we sailed for the first 3/4 of an hour, but by then, the wind had dropped to less than 5 knots. So, we motored the rest of the way to Deep Bay, anchoring behind the spit at 15:10. About 16:00, we rowed over to Neil and Maureen’s cottage on the spit for a lovely evening - cocktails and dinner (including a salmon caught fresh this afternoon by Neil), all mainly prepared by their daughter, Katy, Cambridge PhD, who is working from home in her job as a professor for Minerva University. We all had a good time talking about this very interesting educational experience and generally solving all the problems of the world. We got back to the boats about 22:30.
