The alarm jolted us out of bed at 06:00 and we cast “Massilia” off, after quick goodbyes to Matt and J2, at 06:30. It was cold and foggy with intermittent showers as we got the anchor up at 06:50 and headed west down Smith Inlet. We lost sight of “Massilia” almost immediately in the fog and did not see them for the rest of the day; they are heading to Port Hardy to drop of Matt and J2 tomorrow morning. We decided to press on to Port McNeil because the provisioning is better. The journey down Smith Inlet was uneventful, in spite of the 1/4 mile visibility and we rounded Cape Caution at a distance of 1.0 N-m just before 10:00. We then turned SE into Queen Charlotte Strait and headed toward Port McNeil, where we tied up at the dock at 17:00, the end of a very long day. We saw one humpback whale in the distance along the way. The fog lifted a bit as we progressed SE, but the intermittent rain showers persisted throughout the day.

We slept in till 08:30, then tackled laundry and boat chores in the morning. After lunch at Gus’s, we did a major shop for groceries and provisions. John and Laurie finally arrived on “Massilia” at 19:15 and we went straight to dinner, back at Gus’s, as the steakhouse was not open.
