The morning forecast still looks quite nasty for the next few days as a major low pressure system moves over the area, so we decided to head for Sullivans Bay, to hole up for the worst of it. The anchor was aweigh by 11:40 and we motored up Wells Passage to Sullivans Bay, where we tied up at 12:50. This marina is very busy during the summer season, but there were only two other power boats tied up when we came in. Unfortunately, the “season” ends here at Labour Day, so the restaurant was closed and the grocery store was practically empty. The WiFi was virtually non-existent and only receivable at the restaurant, which was left open for our use. It rained all afternoon, so we spent the afternoon reading, popping popcorn and doing crossword puzzles. After dinner, we played a couple of games of Tri-ominos. Just before dark, we spotted a mama black bear and two cubs grubbing for crabs along the beach.

The rain persisted all night and well into the morning, although it let up and brightened enough at mid-day for me to apply a quick coat of Le Tonkinois to the starboard toe-rail. The forecast for Sunday looks pretty bad, so we are sitting tight. We played Settlers of Catan in the afternoon; John spat his dummy out and quit when wife Laurie blocked his route to the coast, thus limiting his options.
