Conditions are not as bad as forecast (it rained all night until 10:00 this morning, then cleared up a bit) and we are bored with Sullivans Bay, so we got away from the dock at 12:00 and moved over to Turnbull Cove, where we anchored at 13:30. This is a delightful anchorage with a Forestry Service maintained trail up to Huaskin Lake. After lunch, the rain let up again, so we walked up to the lake, where John had a nice fresh-water swim, although none of the rest of us were bold enough to join him. Back to the boat for happy hour. Just as we settled in, we saw a big black bear on the beach we had just vacated. He moseyed along the coast of the cove for the next hour or so. The front came through about 20:00 and it rained the rest of the evening, but we were perfectly sheltered from the winds. We played Settlers of Catan again and this time, John made it to the end of the game.

Intermittent rain persisted throughout the day, so we sat tight again, reading and working on cross-word puzzles. At mid-afternoon, John went fishing in the dinghy and I rowed over to check out Roaringhole Rapids, which are just around the corner from our anchorage. I got there to see peak flow during the flood, but was careful not to get swept through; the water was pouring through a 30 m wide gap and over a 1.5 m drop - easily a Class 5 rapid. We had soup for dinner and were in bed early.
