After an excellent sleep, we got up about 08:30 to a cool, crisp morning. About 10:00 or so, we decided to move on over to Coupeville. When I put the wheel back on, I noticed that the rudder was stuck in the mud, although the depth gauge was showing 2.6 m. We shortened up on the mooring lines and were able to slowly motor out of the mud with no problems. The wind was very light, so we motored down Skagit Bay until we rounded Point, when we picked up a nice NW 12 breeze and were able to sail up into Penn Cove to within 1.5 mile of the Coupeville Wharf. The dockmaster helped us get onto the end of the dock, opposite the “Suva”, but I touched bottom getting up to the dock. We are about 1.5 hours after LW, so we will need to leave tomorrow no later than 1.5 hours before LW, or 10:30. After lunch aboard, we had a quick tour of “Suva” built in Hong Kong in 1925, then spent the afternoon wandering around town, sampling ice cream, the book store and the local historical museum. Back to the boat for refreshing showers and Captain’s Hour, followed by a glass of wine at Vail Wine and dinner in town at Toby’s Cafe. Unfortunately, our reservation request at Langley Harbor for tomorrow evening was not accepted, so we will have to go elsewhere.
