Drama - so much drama. You don’t have to go looking for it; it comes to you, even remotely, or second-hand. We had a very pleasant morning in La Conner, with very pleasant weather. And then Ashley called to report that the old gentleman (with early-onset Alzheimer’s) that she is looking after for a couple of weeks had gone missing. She finally found him (or, more precisely, he turned up) about 2 hours later. We motored down Swinomish Channel from La Conner, starting just before noon and then turned north at the end and motor-sailed up to Hope Island, where we were lucky to pick up an empty mooring buoy. Then, a few minutes later, another boat picked up the next buoy, which then proceeded to sink - very strange. Then, we heard from John and Laurie, who were still stuck in Madeira Bay with engine/fuel problems, which may persist for a while, even though their kids are descending upon them with plans for an all-expense paid vacation in Princess Louisa Inlet - oops! But, we enjoyed a quiet afternoon, with an excellent home-cooked meal on the grill and a beautiful sunset over Deception Pass. No drama here, thank goodness. Good to be out on the hook (or mooring ball) again; especially since the Washington State Marine Parks moorings are “free” to us, as we paid in advance for the annual pass.
