Another beautiful day in paradise; the dawn was clear and warm and calm. After breakfast, we all rowed ashore to walk around Sandy Island at low tide, which occurred at 11:16; we are one day before the full moon, so low tide is very low. The exposed tidal flats are huge and Sandy Island is connected to all of the surrounding islets and Denman Island. Sea life abounds everywhere, with clams, snails, crabs, geo-ducks and seagulls all foraging and/or trying to find a place to hide to avoid becoming someone else’s breakfast or lunch. I found a nice piece of teak - a plank 1-1/4” thick and about 9” wide x 25” long - on the beach; I believe I will try to fashion this into a folding seat for the companionway during the winter. After a late lunch back on the boat, we moved a few miles over to Comox to re-provision for the next few days. We are going to try to see Karen and Graham (last year’s boat guests) and their new baby, Rockfish (not his real name, but that is what we call him) tomorrow. A friend of Michael’s, Taylor, lives in Comox and came down to the boat to join us for happy hour. Afterward, the four of us went up for a lovely meal at Martine’s. Early to bed.
