Hard to believe it is nearly summer; it was cold last night again, with intermittent rain. Foggy and cold this morning. After breakfast, we got going about 10:30, headed for a reputed nice anchorage at Opechee I., at the eastern end of Eggemoggin Reach. Shortly after we crossed under the Deer Isle high bridge, we listened to the weather noon forecast, which was predicting winds of NW 15-20, gusting 30 tonight and tomorrow, so we decided to head on to Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island; this is a bullet-proof harbor, where we have stayed twice before. We made the remainder of the trip without incident, although we were racing the fog into the harbor and picked up a mooring ball in NE Harbor at 14:45. Turns out none of the buses are running on Mount Desert Island yet, so we may have a spot of bother getting up to Acadia National Park. The wind picked up and swung round to the NW just after we got hooked up, so we had dinner (vegetable soup) aboard.

It was really cold last night, so we slept in till 08:30. Although the wind did not get up as much as predicted yesterday afternoon, it was squally and damp all morning, so we just lazed around the boat until after lunch, when it stopped spitting long enough for us to run into town for long, hot showers and a quick shop in the town of Mt. Desert. Back to the boat again by 15:00, for more reading and lazing; its a hard life but someone has to do it. We did do a bit of planning for our run up to the Canadian border and on to Saint John. The tide will be favorable for getting across the reversing falls on the Saint John River by the 22nd or later, so we have a bit of time to get up there. Dinner aboard - salmon and veggies.
