We slept like rocks and woke up to warm (by Maine standards) sunshine. After a lazy breakfast and a brief chat with a lobsterman or two (who came to access the storage boat/barge we were anchored beside), we departed Tibbetts Island and headed for Roque Island Harbor. The wind was fair so we sailed about 1/3 of the way and took the scenic route around the north end of Roque Island, through Chandler Bay and Englishman Bay and sailed nearly up to the anchorage deep in Roque Island harbor. We were the only boat in the entire bay and the beach is stunning: about 1.5 miles long in a broad horseshoe, with fine sand running about 50 yards back from the waterline at low tide. The land behind the HW mark is privately held, but the owners are happy to share the beach with transient boaters. We rowed ashore as soon as we anchored and spent nearly two hours walking from one end to the other and back. Then, it was back to the boat for happy hour and dinner aboard; pork chops, corn-on-the-cob and applesauce, yum, yum. The wind went round to the west and it rained a bit after dinner.
